9 Day Wildlife Search of Uganda’s Big 5 and Primates Safari

ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport

Pick up from Entebbe International Airport. You will meet with our driver who will have been waiting for you to arrive to transfer you to your hotel and Lodging for the night in either Entebbe or Kampala.

Day 2: Murchison Falls National Park via the Rhino Sanctuary

Make an early start from Entebbe or Kampala City at 7:00am with our expert Driver guide in a Landcruiser Safari Vehicle driving for approximately 3hours to the Rhino Sanctuary where you will chance to see the Rhino at a very close range on a guided Nature Walk.
Have Lunch and continue to Murchison Falls National Park which is Uganda’s largest National Park making a stopover at the top of the magnificent Murchison Falls. The most powerful falls in the world after which the Park is named. Continue to the Safari Lodge for accommodation arriving in time for Dinner. (Overnight).

Day 3: Game drives and boat cruise on the Nile

Wake up at 6am for light Morning coffee / tea and set out for a 3 hours Game drive in the Northern sector of the Park at 6:30am when animals are most actively hunting for a chance to find the Lions, Leopard, hyenas, the Elephants, African Cape Buffaloes, Giraffes, antelopes, Hartebeest, warthogs and other flora & fauna returning to the Safari Lodge intime for full breakfast and relax around.

After Lunch, go for the R. Nile boat cruise to the bottom of the Murchison Falls sighting many Hippos, huge Nile Crocodiles and many bird species with the climax of the tour when you get to the bottom of the Falls and turn back this time faster arriving back at the Safari Lodge for evening tea then Dinner. (Overnight)

Day 4: Drive to Kibale National Park

Have an early Morning check out of the Safari Lodge and drive out of Murchison Falls National Park to Kibale National Park through Hoima, a town now renowned for its Oil wells and first growing. Have a stop over for Lunch on this 6hours drive enjoying amazing country side scenery. Arrive at Turaco Tree Tops for accommodation and have Dinner. ( Overnight)

Day 5: The Kibale Forest National Park experience

Kibale Forest boasts of the highest number of Primate Species in the world. After Breakfast at 7am is an early Morning brief then go Chimpanzee tracking with an expert guide for 3- 6hours depending on how soon you find the Chimpanzees in their natural habitat and spend an hour with them. Return for Lunch.

Explore Bigodi swamp in the afternoon which is a community initiative to protect the environment and Wildlife as it’s a home to Monkeys and bird species. Return for Dinner. Overnight.

Day 6: Queen Elizabeth National Park

Hit the road in the Morning for 3 hours following the foot hills of the mystical Rwenzori Mountain ranges to the crater Lakes region in Queen Elizabeth National Park arriving in time for Lunch at the Safari Lodge. Relax and enjoy Lodge amenities and overnight.

Day 7: QENP Game drive and Kazinga channel cruise

Head out for a dawn Game drive at 6:30am. Queen Elizabeth National Park has prolific game with all the Big 5, Lions and tree climbing in the Ishasha sector. Elephants, Antelopes, Buffaloes, Leopards Warthogs and several Crater Lakes. Also tour the Katwe Salt lake returning in time for full Breakfast. Relax and then Lunch.
Take the afternoon boat Cruise on the Kazinga Channel that joins 2 Lakes. Lake Edward and Lake George. You will see several animal species across quenching their thirst on the Channel, Elephants, Hippos, Crocodiles and the climax is when you get to a patch hosting several bird species all collected in one place. The Park boasts of over 600 bird species. Return intime for Tea and Dinner. Overnight.

Day 8: Lake Mburo National Park

Check out at 7:30am after breakfast and drive out of Queen Elizabeth National Park for a 5 hours drive stopping over at Igongo Cultural Centre where you will get familiar with the Hima / Ankole Culture of cattle keepers and have time for a local Lunch. Continue to Lake Mburo National Park. Over night.

Up Market: Kigambira Safari Lodge 

Day 9: Nature Walk / Game drive and back to Kampala with a stopover at the Equator

Start your day with a 2 hour guided Nature Walk among the impala and Zebra and look out for the newly introduced Rothschild Giraffe. Enjoy the scenic view of Lake Mburo after which the Park is named which is the nearest National Park to Kampala City.
Check out after Lunch and drive back to Kampala City stopping over at the Equator line at Kikutuzi, Mpigi district 3800ft above sea level where all degrees on the globe are measured relative to 0.00 degrees latitude. Visit some craft shops around here and then continue with the drive back to Kampala ending the all worthwhile Tour.
